Electricianin Streatham
Domestic electrical work for Streatham's family houses and converted flats, from fuse boards and rewires to lighting and landlord safety reports.
Streatham is a big area with a lot of older housing, and choosing electricians in Streatham means finding people who will work out what each house needs. TH Electricians LTD is based in Sutton, and Streatham is about 5.7 miles north-east of our base. We carry out domestic electrical work there: rewires, fuse board upgrades, EICRs, lighting, sockets, fault finding and smart home installations, with everything tested and certified at the end.

Large family houses and their wiring
Streatham has many Victorian and Edwardian houses, and a good number are larger family homes over several floors. Big houses bring their own electrical questions. Cable runs are longer, there are more circuits, and there is usually more than one generation of wiring in the building, especially where the loft or basement has been altered.
We begin with an inspection of what exists, including the consumer unit, the circuits and the condition of the cable where we can see it. From that we can tell you whether the installation needs a rewire, partial work or only a new board. You get a clear explanation of the reasoning, and you choose what to go ahead with.

Rewires, whole house or in stages
Rewiring a large house does not have to happen all at once. Where the wiring is in poor condition throughout, a full rewire makes sense, but many families prefer to work floor by floor or room by room, especially when they are living in the house.
We carry out full and partial rewires and can talk through a staged plan. That plan covers which circuits are done first, how the house keeps working in between and how the work fits with decorating or refurbishment. Notifiable work is certified under Part P, and we test the completed circuits so that you know the result is safe. Where we find something unexpected behind a wall, we tell you before doing anything about it.

Consumer units and safer boards
The consumer unit controls the whole house, so its condition matters. An old board with rewirable fuses is worth replacing even when much of the wiring is still serviceable, because a modern unit protects each circuit more effectively.
Our upgrade includes:
- checking the circuits before the new board is connected
- fitting a modern consumer unit, correctly labelled
- testing the installation before the power is restored
- certification and a short explanation of the board
In a large house with several floors, we also look at whether the layout of the circuits makes sense for how the family lives now.

Flat conversions and shared houses
A lot of Streatham's bigger houses have been converted into flats or let as shared homes. That puts extra demands on the electrics, with more appliances, separate meters or supplies and, for landlords, a duty to keep the installation safe.
We carry out EICRs, which are inspections and tests of the existing installation ending in a written condition report. Landlords use them for let properties, and owners use them to understand what they have. If the report recommends remedial work, we can quote to carry it out. For a house divided into several homes, tell us how the supplies are arranged when you call and we will plan the testing accordingly.

Lighting and extra sockets
In a bigger house, lighting and power tend to be where the daily frustrations show up: a dark landing, a home office with one socket, a garden room needing its own supply. Addressing them well is often more valuable than a headline job.
We install and replace interior and exterior lighting, add sockets on suitable circuits and fit controls such as dimmers. If a fault appears, such as a tripping circuit or a light that will not stay on, we trace it by testing rather than swapping parts and hoping. Then we explain the cause and the fix. Tell us about the room and how you use it, and we will suggest a practical layout.

Smart controls and renovation electrics
Streatham homeowners often extend or refurbish rather than move, which is the ideal moment to plan the electrics properly. Kitchens, loft rooms and rear extensions each add load and change the layout, and it is far easier to run cable before the finishes go on.
We carry out electrical upgrades during renovation and fit smart home and lighting installations. Working with your builder, we can agree when first-fix and second-fix visits are needed and what needs to be in place at each stage. If you want smart lighting or other controls, raise it early so the cabling can be planned in.

Shops and offices as well
Most of our Streatham enquiries are domestic, but TH Electricians LTD also serves commercial clients. If you have a small shop or office, we can help with fit-out electrics, lighting, data cabling and planned maintenance. Just mention it when you call.

Electricians in Streatham: common questions
Can you rewire a house in stages while we live in it?
Often, yes. We can plan a partial or staged rewire that deals with certain floors or circuits first. We explain how the work will be ordered and what will be disturbed before you agree to anything.
Do you cover the whole of Streatham?
We cover Streatham and nearby areas including Balham, Mitcham and Clapham Common. If you are not sure whether your address is included, call us and we will tell you plainly.
Can you inspect a house that has been split into flats?
Yes. An EICR covers the installation as it stands. Tell us how the supplies and boards are arranged, and we will plan the inspection so that each part is tested properly.
Is the work certified?
Yes. We test the work when it is complete, and notifiable domestic work is certified under Part P. We are registered with NAPIT and go through the paperwork when the job is finished.
