Electricianin Battersea
Electrical work for Battersea flats, conversions and family houses, including safety reports for landlords and lighting for modern living, covered from our Sutton base.
People who search for electricians Battersea flat owners and landlords rely on tend to be dealing with a specific problem: a tripping fuse board, a report needed for a tenancy, or a refit that needs the wiring updating. TH Electricians LTD, an electrical contractor in Sutton, carries out domestic and commercial work in Battersea, which is about 8.3 miles north of us in a straight line. We cover it from Sutton and do not claim a local office.

Electrics in a Battersea flat
A great deal of housing in Battersea is flats, in Victorian terraces that have been divided up and in newer apartment buildings. Flat electrics come with their own quirks. There may be a consumer unit tucked in a cupboard, cable runs that were altered when a house was converted, or a supply shared in ways that are not obvious from the flat itself.
For a flat we typically look at the consumer unit, the condition of the circuits, the socket and lighting arrangement and any earlier work that has been added over the years. If you own a leasehold flat, it is worth checking what your lease says about the building's wiring and what you are responsible for inside your own front door.

Electrical Installation Condition Reports for landlords
Landlords in England need an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) for privately rented homes, and it must be repeated at intervals. An EICR is an inspection and test of the existing installation, and it ends with a written report on its condition and any work that needs attention.
We carry out EICRs for landlords, managing agents and owners with one flat or several. If the report lists remedial work, we can quote to complete it, and once the work is finished the installation can be brought to a satisfactory condition. It is helpful to tell us at the outset whether the flat is occupied, since tenants need notice and access has to be arranged.

Consumer unit and fuse board upgrades
If the fuse board in your flat or house still has rewirable fuses, or a very early consumer unit, replacing it is a sensible way to bring the protection up to what current practice expects. It is a job in its own right and does not require a rewire.
Before we fit a new unit, we test the circuits it will supply. That way any fault is found and discussed first instead of being hidden behind a new box. When the work is finished you receive the certification for the new board, and we are NAPIT registered and follow Part P requirements for domestic installations.

Refurbishing a property in Battersea
Battersea owners regularly refit kitchens, reconfigure flats or extend houses, and the electrics decide what is possible. Our electrical upgrades during renovation include new circuits for ovens, hobs and extractors, additional sockets, first-fix cabling before plastering, and lighting layouts that suit the finished rooms.
Speak to us before finishes go on. Moving a socket or adding a lighting circuit is straightforward with the walls open and awkward once they are decorated. In a flat we also consider how cables can be routed without disturbing neighbours, and we agree the working hours you need to keep to.

Full and partial rewires
An older house or converted flat may need its wiring replaced in full, or only in part where a kitchen or an extension has been added on a newer circuit. Warning signs include fabric-covered cable, mismatched sockets, scorch marks or a burning smell, and lights that dim when appliances start.
We inspect first and give you a clear description of what is involved, then plan the work so that the property stays as usable as possible. The finished installation is tested and certified.

Lighting and smart home for modern Battersea homes
Many people in Battersea want their homes to feel more comfortable than the original wiring allows. We install and upgrade lighting, including LED downlights and feature lighting, and we fit smart home installations such as app-controlled lighting and circuits prepared for the equipment you want to use.
In a flat with limited ceiling depth, or in a room with an unusual layout, the lighting plan needs thought. We can talk through the options and what each one involves for the cable and the fittings.

Working from Sutton, and what to tell us when you call
Because we travel to Battersea from Sutton, we plan each visit around the job instead of squeezing it between others. That gives us time to test properly and to explain what we find. Nearby areas such as Chelsea, Clapham Common, Fulham and Pimlico are also within our reach, so it is worth asking if you are just outside Battersea.
When you phone, tell us whether it is a flat or a house, roughly how old the wiring is, what has gone wrong or what you want to change, and whether anyone is living there while we work. If you have an earlier certificate or report, keep it to hand. We will then explain what we would look at first and what a sensible next step would be.

Small businesses and commercial premises
We also work as a commercial electrical contractor. Offices, shops and other business premises in and around Battersea can call us for fit-out electrical work, LED lighting upgrades, data cabling and network readiness, and planned maintenance. As with homes, we survey first so the scope is agreed before work begins.

Questions about electricians in Battersea
Do you have a Battersea office?
No. We are based in Sutton, roughly 8.3 miles away in a straight line, and we travel to Battersea for domestic and commercial jobs. We arrange visits in advance so there is time to inspect properly.
Can you inspect a flat that is currently tenanted?
Yes, but access has to be arranged with the tenant. Tell us when you call whether the flat is occupied, and we will explain how we would organise the testing so it is as little disruption as possible.
Do I need a rewire if my fuse board is old?
Not necessarily. Replacing the board and rewiring the property are separate jobs. We test the circuits first, then tell you whether they can stay and what we recommend.
Do you certify your work?
Yes. We are NAPIT registered and follow Part P requirements for domestic work, and the completed installation is tested and certified before we leave it with you.
