Lighting Installationin Sutton

Lighting and smart home installation for homes and businesses in Sutton, planned room by room by the electricians who wire it.

Lighting installation in Sutton is work we do from home, because TH Electricians LTD is based here. We install and upgrade lighting for homes, landlords and commercial premises: new fittings, LED replacements, extra circuits, controls and smart home systems. The lights themselves are the visible part; the circuits, switching and safe connections behind them are what we are careful about, and every job is tested before we leave it.

Planning lighting before anything is fitted

Good lighting starts on paper, or at least in conversation. What is the room used for, where do people sit and work, and where is the light needed most? A kitchen worktop, a hallway, a home office and a bedroom each need something different.

When we visit, we look at the room as it is and ask how you use it. We check the existing circuits, the switch positions and the ceiling, because these decide what is straightforward and what will take more work. Then we explain what we would recommend and how the work would be carried out, so you can decide before anything begins.

LED lighting upgrades

Swapping old lighting for LED is one of the most common jobs we are asked about. Sometimes that means replacing fittings one for one, and sometimes it means rethinking a room that has one harsh central light and dark corners.

An LED upgrade can include:

  • replacing old ceiling fittings with LED ones
  • adding downlights or spotlights where a room is poorly lit
  • lighting under kitchen units or in alcoves
  • changing switches, or adding dimmers where they suit the fitting

Not every fitting works with every dimmer, so we check compatibility before fitting rather than after.

New circuits and rewiring for lighting

Sometimes the problem is not the lights but the wiring behind them. Old lighting circuits may not have enough points, may be overloaded or may not be protected the way current standards expect. Adding fittings to a tired circuit is not always a good idea.

If we find that, we say so, and explain the options: extending the circuit, adding a new one, or upgrading the consumer unit that protects it. Domestic electrical work is carried out to current standards, and we are registered with NAPIT and Part P certified for it. You receive the certification for what we install.

Lighting in kitchens, bathrooms and outdoors

Some places need more care than others. Bathrooms and outdoor areas involve water, so fittings must be suitable for where they are put, and the installation must follow the rules for those locations. That is not something to leave to a general handyman.

We take care over:

  • bathroom lighting, where fittings must be suitable for the position they occupy
  • outdoor lighting for paths, doors and gardens
  • kitchen lighting, which often mixes ceiling and worktop light
  • loft, garage and outbuilding lighting, which may need its own supply

We check what is suitable for each space and explain the reasons for our choices.

Smart home installation in Sutton

Smart home installation covers a wide range, from lights you control by phone to whole-house systems. Our smart home and lighting installations are electrical work first: getting the wiring, power and switches right so the controls have something dependable underneath.

Before recommending anything, we ask what you actually want. Scenes for the living room, lights that come on when you arrive, or simply switching everything off from the front door are all possible. Others want no change to how the switches feel. We explain what would be needed for each, including whether a neutral wire is available at the switch, since that can decide what is possible in an older home.

Commercial lighting upgrades

Lighting for shops, offices and units has different priorities. Large areas may be lit for long hours, so an LED upgrade can make a real difference to running costs, and light quality matters on a sales floor or at a desk.

Our commercial lighting upgrades cover fittings, circuits and controls, planned around the way the premises trade. We survey the building, explain the work and agree access and timing beforehand, so that disruption is kept to what has been agreed. As with any commercial job, the work is tested and certified when finished.

Where lighting is part of a wider fit-out, we plan it together with the power and data.

How It Works

How a lighting job runs

It begins with a visit and a conversation. We look at what is there, discuss what you want and explain the options in plain terms. You then receive a written explanation of the work, so you know what is proposed before you agree to anything.

The work is carried out by qualified electricians, with care taken over dust, floors and furniture. We test the circuits and check that switches and controls work as agreed, then show you how to use anything new. If something unexpected turns up above a ceiling or behind a wall, we tell you first and agree what to do. Anything we are unsure about at the visit, we say so, rather than guess.

FAQ

Lighting installation in Sutton: common questions

Can you add downlights to a room that has none?

Often, yes, though it depends on the ceiling, the existing circuit and what sits above it. We look at the room first and explain what is possible and whether the circuit needs changing.

Do you install smart lighting?

Yes. We carry out smart home and lighting installations. We start by finding out what you want to control, then check the wiring and switches to see what is workable in your property.

Do you do lighting for businesses?

Yes. We carry out LED lighting upgrades for commercial premises, including shops, offices and units, and can plan lighting as part of a wider fit-out. We survey the premises before explaining or quoting anything.

Will I receive certification for the work?

Yes. Work we install is tested, and you receive the certification for it. We are registered with NAPIT, and Part P certified for domestic work, and we explain the paperwork when the job is finished.
